2D-to-3D for PC games on the XREAL One
The XREAL One family has XREAL's X1 chip on the glasses, which handles native 3DoF anchoring and, on supported models, XREAL's on-device 2D-to-3D conversion ("Real 3D"), as reported by Road to VR. Reviewers have noted on-glasses conversion can be frame-rate limited, which matters more for games than movies.
Two different approaches
- On-glasses conversion estimates depth from the image. It works with any source, including consoles, with no PC software.
- PC-side per-eye depth (Complete VR Studio) doesn't estimate a depth map. It slightly enlarges or warps one eye's image, or tilts the lead eye, so your brain fuses the views into layered depth. It's a different, subtler look.
Tips for games
- Use one conversion at a time. Stacking effects is uncomfortable.
- For fast games, prefer whatever keeps the highest frame rate. See reducing latency.
- If the effect is too strong, read 2D-to-3D too strong.
Trial, price and how to get it
Complete VR Studio is a Windows 10 (version 19041 or newer) and Windows 11 x64 app, currently at version 1.0.0-preview.10. Premium features are included in a 7-day trial from install, and basic viewing keeps working until day 90. Activation costs about $5 in Bitcoin during the trial, or about $25 after it, paid in Bitcoin only. It's built security-first. See trial & pricing and compatibility for details.
